In face of the lack of public policies surrounding the COVID-19 crisis, a group of volunteers who live in poor communities called "favelas" have started to organize themselves, creating different committees to help each other. Public schools have been transformed into shelters for those with flu-like- symptoms living in crowed houses, protective masks have been produced, food donation/distribution is underway, and more.
An initiative from Marília Duque concerned with optimizing health resources and increasing people's comfort, especially the elderly. The goal of the program is to find a volunteer, “the guardian angel”, and allow them to adopt an elder person who lives alone to support and chat in this moment of need.
